Introduction
All my life, I hated Ranch dressing! It was thick and goupy, and I didn't like the flavor (some brands are even sweet - ugh!). A coworker made ranch dressing using Hidden Valley Ranch mix, buttermilk, and mayo, and I discovered it was better than the bottled kind. I experimented at home by substituting 2/3 of the mayo with Greek yogurt and adding lemon juice. It came out tangy, fresher, and lower fat than using only mayo! All my life, I hated Ranch dressing! Ingredients
-
1/3 cup mayonaisse
6 oz fat free plain Greek yogurt (I like Fage 0%)
1 cup buttermilk
1 packet Hidden Valley Ranch dip mix
1 tbsp lemon juice
Tips
Keep in mind - this won't last as long as bottled dressings. Be sure to look at the exp. dates of the buttermilk and yogurt. You can label the jar/container you store your mayo in with the date that the milk/yogurt expire. However, it doesn't last that long around my husband and me!
Directions
Stir the mayo and yogurt together in a mixing bowl, and stir in the dressing packet. Slowly whisk in the buttermilk. Finally, stir in the lemon juice. You can vary the amount of yogurt or buttermilk if you like it thinner or thicker. Transfer to a jar, bottle, or container and store in the refrigerator 30 minutes before serving. Dressing will thicken while in the fridge.
