Introduction
These are raw, but not vegan because of the honey (some would argue that). They are rich, yet not too sweet, with a wonderful texture and flavor! Ingredients
-
Brownies:
1 cup raw, whole hazelnuts
3 T. raw cacao powder (add one more for a richer dark chocolate kick!)
1 1/2 t. good quality, fair trade decaf coffee
12-14 prunes, depending on how sticky and prune-ish you'd like your brownies to taste and feel
Frosting:
1/2 ripe avocado
4 T. raw cacao powder
3 T. raw honey
1 dash sea salt
1 T. ground cinnamon
1/2 T. ground nutmeg
Tips
This is an original recipe, created on Saturday, August 25th. These brownies will be sold in a cafe in Lakewood, Ohio soon!
Directions
Combine the first four ingredients, in order, in your food processor, until it resembles a nice, fairly sticky meal. You should be able to stick it together with your fingers easily, but you shouldn't have an overabundance of prunes in there. Pat the mixture into a parchment lined square pan and set aside.
Combine the next six ingredients in your food processor, in the order given, until it forms a rich, creamy frosting. Spread over the top of the brownie mixture and freeze or refrigerate for two hours. Serve as soon as possible, or keep chilled until ready. Put back in the fridge after slicing a piece, so that the brownies will stay firm. If not serving right away, put in the freezer. These brownies will never get hard!
Serving Size: makes 9 1x1 inch pieces.
Number of Servings: 9
