    1 package of Gardein's beefless tips
    3tbsp olive oil
    10oz pearl onions, peeled
    2 garlic cloves, minced
    2 celery stalks thinly sliced
    2medium carrots 1/2' diced
    3tbsp flour
    1/2tsp each of dried thyme and rosemary
    3 cups of vegan beef broth or vegetable broth
    1cup dry red wine, cabernet sauvignon
    2medium potatoes 1/2' diced
    salt and pepper for taste


Add oil to large saucepan at medium heat. Add beefless tips and brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.

Add onions, garlic, and celery to pan and saute 3 minutes.

Add carrots, thyme, and rosemary and continue cooking 3 more minutes.

Sprinkle in flour. Slowly add broth and wine while stirring.

Add potatoes and bring to boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 30minutes.

Add beefless tips back in and cook for additional 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and serve.

  • I make this with some frequency with whatever I have on hand. For instance, tonight I had no wine in the house, so I replaced the 1 cup of wine with beer. I often substitute a whole chopped onion in lieu of the pearl onions, and this time I actually used halved baby carrots instead of the 2 chopped. - 10/28/14
