Introduction

Yummy spaghetti sauce; great for crockpots. Yummy spaghetti sauce; great for crockpots.
Number of Servings: 15

Ingredients

2 large (28 oz.) cans of tomatoes (no salt added)
2 medium (14.5 oz.) cans of tomatoes (no salt added)
1 can of tomato paste (6 oz.)
1 pound of ground beef, extra lean
    1/2 onion
    1 tbsp garlic powder
    2 tbsp light sour cream
Italian seasoning and/or salt to taste
    Add water as needed

Tips

I like to use whole canned tomatoes and diced tomatoes with oregano and basil, but any canned tomatoes will work. Just make sure there is no salt added. If it tastes too bland, you can always add some Italian seasoning and/or salt.
You can use a big pot instead of the slow cooker; the important thing is that it simmers for at least 1/2 hour, longer is better. (I recommend several hours to bring out the flavor.) If using a pot, check the temperature frequently and make sure to stir so it does not burn.

Directions

Brown the ground beef, onions, and garlic powder in a frying pan. Combine with all other ingredients in a slow cooker. Simmer on low for 6-8 hours or on medium for 4 hours. Season to taste.
