Ingredients

    Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped
    Celery, raw, 1 cup, diced
    Flour, white, .25 cup
    Water, 2 cups
    Bay leaf - 1
    Potato, raw, 1 large , diced
    Clams, canned, meat only, 1.5 cup
    Milk, canned, evaporated, 1 can (13 oz)
    Butter, salted, 2 tbsp
    Salt and pepper

Directions

Heat oil in a soup pot. Add onions and celery and cook for about 10 minutes or until lightly turning brown. Add flour and stir for a minute or so. Add 2 cups water, bay leaf and potatoes, and bring to a boil. Simmer until potatoes are almost done. Add milk, salt, pepper, butter and clams. Simmer 5-10 minutes more, adjust seasonings. Serve hot.
