Ingredients

3/4 cup sugar
1/3 and 2 Tbsp flour
3 eggs, seperated
2 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla
45 nilla wafers
3 bananas, sliced
Tips
If you want to make it ahead of time: let it cool completely and place in the refrigerator. Add extra nilla wafers when ready to serve.
Directions
Mix 1/2 cup of sugar, flour, egg yolks, and milk in the top of a double boiler. Cook over boiling water for 10-12 minutes, or until thickened. Stirr occasionaly. Add vanilla once taken off heat.
Beat egg whites on high until soft peaks form then add the rest of the sugar and beat on high until stiff peaks form(like whipped cream).
Pour half of the custard on the bottom of a glass baking dish. Layer half of the bananas and nilla wafers ontop and then add the rest of the custard. Add the second layer of nilla wafers and bananas. Top with the egg/sugar mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool and garnish with the extra nilla wafers.
