It is a meatless version of the Hyderabai Nihari. It is a meatless version of the Hyderabai Nihari.
Number of Servings: 1


    1/4 Cup Canola or Vegetable oil
    Salt to taste
    1 tsp Red Chili Powder
    1/4 Tsp. Turmeric
    1/2 Tsp. Fresh Root Ginger Paste
    1/2 Tsp. Fresh Garlic Paste
    1/2 Cup Chopped Onion
    2 Cups Water
    Dry or Fresh Cilantro for Garnish
    3 Green Chili Peppers split
    Dry Herbs (Basil, Star Anise)


Tastes best with Chapati or Bagel. If you have Nihari masala please substitue with dry herbs.


In a saucepan, heat the oil and fry the Onions until transparent. Add the salt, chili powder, turmeric, ginger-garlic paste and dry herbs. Add the water and let it come to a boil. Simmer and reduce. Add the cilantro and and chili peppers and leave on stove for 2 minutes and remove.
