Ingredients
-
1.5 lbs of lean ground beef
1/4 cup uncooked long grain white rice
1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
5 cups / 1.25 litres tomato sauce
5 tsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
5 cups cooked egg noodles
Tips
I have used fresh minced garlic instead of garlic powder and a clove or 2 does just fine. Also, adjust the amount of cayenne to your liking!
Directions
Use a large skillet/ deep frying pan.
In a large bowl, combine beef, rice, water, onion, salt, pepper and garlic powder until well blended.
Mold 1/4 cup of beef mixture into cone shaped serving. I find it easy to just pack the beef mixture into a medium plastic funnel and just pop the "porcupine" out.
Brown the porcupine cones in the large skillet on all sides.
In bowl, combine tomato sauce, worcestershire sauce, chili powder and cayenne pepper. Pour over beef in skillet. Let simmer for 45 minutes on low heat.
Serve over egg noodles.
