Introduction
Homemade granola with a touch of vanilla. I add a lot of almonds to my granola because I LOVE roasted almonds, but almonds are also full of great fats and help to fill in the morning. If preferred, add only 3/4 cup of almonds to decrease calorie count to 105 calories per 2 tbs serving. Homemade granola with a touch of vanilla. Ingredients
-
DRY INGREDIENTS
2 cups Rolled Oats, dry (Gluten-Free, such as Bob's Red Mill, will make the entire dish gluten free)
1 1/3 cups Almonds
1/8 tsp salt
LIQUID INGREDIENTS
1/4 cup Blue Agave Nectar or Honey
3 tbs hot water
3 tbs canola oil
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Tips
Combine a couple tbs of granola with plain greek yogurt and fruit to add fiber and healthy fats to your breakfast
Directions
1. Heat oven to 300 degrees F.
2. In large bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Mix well.
3. In smaller bowl, combine all liquid ingredients, stirring until syrup is thoroughly combined with ingredients.
4. Combine liquid with dry ingredients in large bowl and mix well with spoon. Mixture should be pretty wet.
5. Spread mixture onto large oiled cookie sheet (or use parchment paper)
6. Place into oven. After 15 minutes, stir mixture. Allow another 15 minutes and stir mixture. Watching the oven carefully (at least every five minutes), allow a final 10-20 minutes until mixture is golden brown. You should be able to smell the perfume-y odors of the vanilla, but it should not smell at all burnt.
7. Allow to cool completely before serving (frankly, I like to eat it warm!)
