Ingredients

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 package (19 oz) extra lean ground turkey
1 small red onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 t cumin
1 bell pepper (or about 4-5 mini sweet peppers), diced
1 tablespoon grill seasoning blend (recommended: McCormick Montreal Grill Seasoning reduced sodium)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup diced tomatoes, blended (or 8 oz can tomato sauce)
1 cup kraft 2% shredded cheddar cheese
pepper to taste (incl 1 t red pepper flakes)
Tips
Add fresh herbs (cilantro or parsley would work well).
Serve open faced on a bun, over pasta, over rice, or even over salad. Great in taco shells too!
Makes a great filling for nachos too!
Directions
Heat pan over medium and add oil. Sautee onion for a few minutes, until lightly browned. Add bell pepper, garlic, pepper flakes (if using), cumin, and turkey. Brown turkey and break it up as it cooks.
Once turkey browns, add worcestershire sauce and let reduce slightly. Add sugar and seasoning blend. Then add the tomatoes.
Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Either mix the cheese in, or portion into four servings and top each with 1/4 cup of cheese.
