Ingredients

    1/2 cup nutritional yeast
    3 tbsp. flour
    1/2 tsp sea salt
    1/2 tsp black pepper
    1 cup water
    1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
    2 tsp prepared Dijon or yellow mustard

Tips

Tastes really good with cut-up (vegan) sausages on macaroni. I love it on vegetables also. This recipe works as welsh rarebit with some Worcestershire sauce over toast.


Directions

Mix the first four ingredients together (nutritional yeast, flour, salt and pepper), then add the water and oil and mix thoroughly with a wire whisk. Stir or whisk over medium to medium high heat until the mixture thickens and begins to boil slightly. Stir in the mustard, heat another 30-60 seconds. Serve in place of cheese sauce over vegetables, macaroni, rice, toast or cooked grains.
