Ingredients

    lasagna noodles (about 12)
    1 lb ground beef
    .5 lb hot italian sausage
    3 cup mozzarella cheese
    1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
    1.5 tsp dried basil
    .5 tsp fennel seeds
    1 tbls ground black pepper
    1 tbls kosher salt
    1 tsp italian seasoning
    2 cloves garlic
    .5 large white onion
2 cans tomato sauce (6.5 oz)
2 cans tomato paste (6 oz)
1 can crushed tomatoes (28 oz)
    .5 cup water
    2 tbls sugar

Directions

1. Brown ground beef and Italian sausage with onion and garlic. Once well browned add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and water. Then add salt, pepper, italian seasoning, basil, sugar, fennel seeds, and parsley and simmer for 1.5 hours.

2. Boil lasagna noodles in large pot of water. Optionally you can season the water with salt and oil before it starts boiling.

3. Preheat oven to 400

4. Spread a layer of the finished meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 baking pan followed about 1/3 of the parmesan cheese followed by about 6 lasagna noodles and another layer of sauce. Sprinkle another third of the parmesan cheese. Then put a layer of half of the total mozzarella followed by the remaining lasagna noodles. Then put remaining sauce, parmesan, and mozzarella respectively on top.

5. Bake for 35 minutes with foil cover. Then bake an additional 35 minutes uncovered. Let cool for 15 minutes and cut into 12 equal sized pieces.
