Ingredients

    Brown Sugar, 2 cup, packed (remove)
    Instant, Quick, and Regular Oats Cereal, cooked with water, 2.5 cup, cooked (remove)
    *Flour, white, 3 cup (remove)
    Salt, 1 tsp (remove)
    Shortening, 1.5 cup (remove)
    Cinnamon, ground, 1 tsp (remove)
    Dates, 3 cup, pitted, chopped (remove)
    Brown Sugar, 1 cup, packed (remove)
    Water, tap, 2 cup (8 fl oz) (remove)
    Lemon Juice 'Real Lemon' 100% juice, 2 tsp (remove)

Directions

pre heat oven to 400 deg.
put sugar ,rolled oats, flour , salt , cinnamon and shorting in a bowl , cut in shortening till mixture is crumbly press 1/2 of the mixture in a 11 by 13 baking dish . Bring water to boil and add dates and 1 cup of brown sugar and lemon juice simmer till smooth ,pure mixture on first lawer and spread out evenly add remaing mixture and spread out and press down with palm of hand , bake at 400 deg for 20 to 25 minutes , cut in 24 2 inch piees
