Ingredients
-
12 large cabbage leaves
1 egg, beaten
1/4 c. nonfat milk
1 tsp salt
clove garlic, minced
pinch oregano
1/2 cup minced onion
1 cup cooked rice
1 lb. ground chicken
1 can tomato sauce (16 oz) .
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. pepper
Canola cooking spray
Directions
Cut off bottom of cabbage and carefully peel off leaves trying to leave them whole. You may have to piece some together when you're assembling the rolls. Put them into a large pot of boiling water (if cabbage is very cold I immerse the whole head in the pot of water until leaves loosen up and then pull them off to boil individually) for a few minutes until they are limp enough for rolling. Drain and cool a little bit.
Mix beaten egg, milk, onion, garlic, salt, oregano, pepper, cooked rice and ground chicken together.
Place about a 1/4 cup of meat mixture in the center of each leaf - fold in ends and roll up. Spray crockpot with cooking spray. Place rolls in crockpot.
Combine tomato sauce, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce and pour over rolls.
Cover and cook on low 7 to 9 hours or about 5.5 on high.
