Ingredients

    3 c. chick peas
    1/4 cup water
    1/4 cup lemon juice
    5 cloves of garlic
    1 TBSP cumin
    1/8 tsp cayenne or chipotle chile pepper (ground)

Tips

The simmering of the chick peas yields a less grainy texture to the final product. You can substitute any type of hot sauce or ground chile pepper to give the hummus some heat.


Directions

Rinse the chick peas and simmer for 10 minutes in water. Drain but do not rinse.

Mix together all other ingredients and then blend with chick peas in blender.
