Number of Servings: 36

Ingredients

    1 lb. pitted dates, chopped
    4 c. nuts, unchopped
    3/4 lb. candied pineapple chopped
    3/4 lb. candied cherries whole
    1 lb. white (golden) raisins
    1 c. butter or margarine
    2 1/4 c. sugar
    6 eggs
    1/2 c. orange juice
    1/2 c. syrup
    4 c. sifted flour
    1 t. nutmeg
    1 t. salt
    2 1/2 t. cinnamon

Directions

Line pans with foil. Mix nuts and fruit together. Mix together butter, sugar, eggs, juice and syrup. Sift together flour, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg. Thoroughly mix flour mixture with butter/egg mixture. Work nuts and fruits into batter with heavy spoon or hands. Fill pans 2/3 full. Decorate with candied fruit and nuts as desired. Bake at 275 degrees for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Serving Size: Makes 2 loaf cakes and one 10" tube cake.
