Ingredients
-
1/2 Tbsp olive oil
1 onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup grated carrot
1 cup dry lentils (I used brown)
1/2 cup dry brown rice (I used basmati brown)
3 cups water with tsp of "better than bouillon" (or just use 2 cups of water and 1 cup broth)
1/2 T cumin, t sage, 1/2 T curry powder
2 t Tabasco or some cayenne pepper
splash of soy sauce or fish sauce or ketchup
1/4 cup nutritional yeast
3/4 cup oats
salt and pepper to taste
Tips
Serve in pita or wraps with veggies and a simple lemon or mint yogurt sauce.
Eat as a burger on a bun with all the fixings!
Crumble over a salad
Crumble spaghetti sauce sauce as faux beef.
Directions
-Preheat oven to 450F.
-Saute onion, carrot and garlic in pot and then add all ingredient expect yeast, oats, s&p.
-Bring to boil and then cover and simmer 40 minutes or until water is absorbed and contents are soft.
-If you have time, let this cool as it will make the burgers easier to form. If not it's fine though.
-Puree this and add yeast and oats. Puree again if desired.
-Add salt and pepper or any more spices to taste.
-Form into patties (1/3 scoopfuls) and place on greased baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes per side or until firm and beginning t brown.
