Introduction

This can be made sweeter if more sugar is added. This can be made sweeter if more sugar is added.

Ingredients

    4 Tbs butter
    1 onion -medium - chopped
    4 pounds of Sauerkraut - wash and let drip dry. For less (Wash more for less sour.)
    1 small can of unsweetened Apple sauce
    1 Tbs caraway seeds
    1/4 -1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup wine (if Sauerkraut appears too dry add water)

Tips

This can also be baked in the oven @ 400 Farenheit for 60 minutes.
If you want the cabbage to be a little crunchier than cook only 180 min in crock pot


Directions

4 Tbs butter -- place on bottom of slow coocker
1 onion -medium - chopped -- spread over bottom

layer Sauerkraut
Apple sauce
caraway seeds
top with brown sugar and wine
