Ingredients

    Scones
    2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
    1 Cup Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats
    1/3 Cup Light Brown Sugar
    1 ½ Tsp. Baking Powder
    ½ Tsp. Table Salt
    1/3 Cup Heavy Cream
    ¼ Cup Milk
    1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
    1 Stick Cold Butter, Cubed
    2 Tbsp. Shortening, Cubed
½ Cup of Mix in flavors: Fresh Berries (Raspberries, Blueberries, Strawberries…), Dried Fruit (Bananas, Cranberries, Plums, Apricots…), Nuts (Almonds, Cashews, Pecans, Peanuts) or Seeds (Sesame, Flax…)

    Glaze
    2 Tbsp. Maple Syrup
    1 Tbsp. Heavy Cream
    ½ Cup Powdered Sugar

Directions

Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl
Combine heavy cream, milk and vanilla in a separate bowl, set aside.
Cut the butter and the shortening into the dry ingredients (a pastry blender is my favorite way to do this) until you are left with mealy crumbles.
Blend wet and dry ingredients until smooth.
Gently add your mix in flavor(s).
On a floured surface, pat dough into a flattened disk, about ¾ inch thick.
Bake at 450, on a Silpat or greased cooking sheet for 17 minutes.
Remove from heat, cut and let rest. Once cooled, coat with glaze.
