Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

1 LB 93% lean ground beef (can substitute turkey)
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 green bell pepper, chopped
    1 red bell pepper, chopper
    1 tsp canola oil
    1 TBSP dry mustard
2 TBSP BBQ seasonings (to taste - use low sodium, if you can find it)
    1 cup catsup

Directions

In a large frying pan (not a non-stick, there's lots of scraping involved), combine oil, peppers and onions and brown over medium-high heat.
Once onions have begun to caramelize, add ground beef (or turkey) and brown from 6-8 minutes: Meat should be very brown and sticking to the pan to get that grilled flavor!
Remove from heat and deglaze the pan by adding 1/4 cup of water and scraping all of the browned bits.
Mix in catsup, dry mustard and BBQ spices.
Serve warm, spooned into toasted, whole-wheat hamburger buns and accompanied with lots of napkins!
