Introduction

A simple green smoothie. I use filtered water but use whatever you have. This is a great way to increase your fruit and vegetable intake without added salt or fat. You can also use kale or mixed greens but plain spinach is less expensive and lets the flavor of the fruit come through. A simple green smoothie. I use filtered water but use whatever you have. Ingredients

    spinach, 3 cups
    blueberries, frozen, 1 cup
    mixed fruit, frozen, 1 cup
    flax seed meal, 2 tbsp
spearmint or other mint, 2 tbsp
    3 cups water

Tips

I use spearmint or mint leaves from my garden during the summer. If I add kale, I double or triple the mint to decrease the earthy taste of the kale. You can use flax seeds if you don't have the meal because it will break down in the blender.

Directions

Put all ingredients in a blender with one cup of water. Start blending at low speed and increase from there. I add the remaining 2 cups of water in dribbles to prevent air pockets from forming in my blender. Blend until it is at your desired level of liquification. I blend until green which occurs at high speed in less than a minute.
