Number of Servings: 48

Ingredients

President's Choice Butter Puff Pastry, 1 and 2/3 sheets (2 sheets per 1lb package)
Johnsonville Mild Italian Sausage Meat, 1 pkg = 375 g
    Zest from 1 lemon
    Seasoning to taste:
I used a pinch each of nutmeg, cumin, thyme (leaves), fresh ground pepper and two chopped fresh basil leaves.

Egg (less than one) for wash.

Tips

It's likely that a full pound (454 grams) of filling would use exactly 1lb of the pastry.
These are really nice fresh from the oven. Cool a couple of minutes as they will be extremely hot.

Directions

Thaw pastry sheets according to directions.
Mix seasoning into sausage meat.
Cut each pastry into three broad strips. (The amount of filling used 5/6 of these so I put jam in the remainders with cinnamon sugar on top.)
Make a thin strip of sausage for each pastry, place along the centre, brush with a little egg (for glue),and roll shut. Press seam with fork tines, cut into 8-10 pieces, place on baking sheet and brush with egg wash.
Bake 425 for about 20 minutes, watching carefully for the perfect golden brown colour.

Serving Size: Makes about 48 1-2 bite morsels.
