Ingredients

    1lb lean ground turkey
    28oz can of diced tomato
    15oz can black beans
    1 medium raw onions chopped
    2 garlic cloves diced
2 cups of sweet potato (about 1- 5" long potato) cubed
    1 bayleaf
    1 tbsp cumin
    1 tbsp oregano flakes
1 tsp Sea Salt (or regular salt)
    1 tbsp black pepper
    2 tbsp chili powder
    1 tbsp cayenne pepper
    1 cup water

Tips

This recipe may be lacking salt only because I am watching my sodium, but feel free to add more.

If you're watching your starch/carb intake, I would try to eat this for lunch rather than dinner.

Directions

Dump the onions, garlic, potatoes, canned tomatoes & beans in the crockpot and mix it together. Crumble the turkey on top. Add all the spices and water.

Set crockpot to cook on low for 8 hours. During the last 1/2 hour, mix the chili and check the seasoning. At this point, if it's lacking any seasoning, you can now adjust it to your taste. Let it cook for an additional 30 mins.

Serve alone if you're watching your starch/carb intake, or serve with some rice if you're not.
