*Flour, white, 3 cups
Water, tap, 1 cup plus 4 oz for proofing yeast (8 fl oz)
*Crisco Pure Vegetable Oil, 1 tbsp
Granulated Sugar, 2 TBSP
Yeast, bakers, 1 TBSP
Salt, 1 tsp
Tips
You can test for done-ness if you take the loaf out of the pan and tap on the bottom with your fingertip. You should hear a hollow sound.
Directions
In 4 ounces of luke warm water, stir in 1 TBSP of sugar and 1 TBSP of yeast. Let sit for 10 mins.
While the yeast mixture is rising, mix thoroughly 1 cup luke warm water, 1 TBSP sugar, 1 TBSP oil and 1 tsp salt. Ensure the salt is completely dissolved.
After the ten minutes the yeast mixture has risen, add it to the water mixture. Add in flour, one cup at a time, stirring. Knead the mixture for at least 5 minutes, adding more flour if mixture is really sticky.
Shape into a ball and lightly coat with some oil. Let sit, covered, in warm place for at least 60 mins.
Lay dough out on counter/cutting board and shape into a loaf. Place in well oiled loaf pan and again lightly coat the dough in oil. Let rise again for at least 60 mins.
Bake @ 350f for 20-30 mins, until top is golden.
