Ingredients

    16 oz Venison, ground
1 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions, raw
0.5 cup Flour - Gold medal all purpose flour
    .25 tsp Baking Soda
    0.5 tsp Cream Of Tartar
    .5 tsp Granulated Sugar
    .5 tsp Salt
    2 tbsp Butter, salted
    1 cup Dairy, Milk - Whole - 1 cup
    2 serving Egg - Large (1 egg)
    1 cup, shredded Cheddar Cheese

Directions

Heat the oven to 400°F and arrange a rack in the middle. Coat a 9-inch pie dish with cooking spray.
In a frying pan over medium heat, cooked the diced onion and ground beef until browned. Drain any fat out of the meat if there is any. Transfer the mixture to the pie dish and spread in an even layer. Set aside.
Whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, sugar, pepper and salt. Cut in the butter (or use food processor) until the mixture looks like coarse breadcrumbs. Add the milk and eggs and mix until blended.
Pour the batter over the meat in the pie dish.
Sprinkle the top with the cheese.
Bake until golden brown and set, and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, about 25 minutes.
