Ingredients
-
2.5 cup Pasta Sauce, Hunts Garlic & Herb
1 cup Bush's, Black Beans
1 cup Tomato Paste
1 serving Tomato products, Hunts Diced Tomatoes w/ Basil, Garlic, and Oregano
1.5 cup, chopped Onions, raw
16 oz Turkey, Ground turkey, 93% lean
Chili Powder/Hot Sauce to Taste
Tips
The cook time is listed as a minimum cook time for a nice, well-flavored simmer. You could technically cook until it is warm enough to eat but the spices may not be dispersed as well.
Directions
Put all canned goods into crockpot on low, save one can for draining grease off of turkey.
Chop onions into your preferred size (smaller for those who don't like onions, but want to add the flavor) and add to crockpot.
Cook ground turkey on stove in large pan until slightly brown and no pink is left. Drain off grease. Then while still in warm pan, mix in 1 cup of room temperature water with chili power and/or hot sauce of your choosing (taste to make sure it is spicy enough).
Add cooked meat and all sauce from pan to crockpot. Leave crockpot on low for 1 hour. Taste for spiciness to make sure it is to your liking. Cook for up to 4 hours on low (good for if you need to set it on a timer or want little prep for potlucks, parties, etc.)
Serve warm with toppings of your choosing, such as low-fat sour cream, shredded low-sodium cheddar, chives, etc.
Serving Size: Makes 8 servings about 1-2 cups each
