Introduction

Ingredients

    2 cup Wheat flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched
    1 tsp Baking Powder
    1 tsp Baking Soda
    0.5 tsp Salt, Sifto Table Salt (by FAREWELLBC)
    1 tsp Vanilla extract, imitation, alcohol
    .25 cup, unpacked Brown Sugar
    .75 cup Granulated Sugar
    .5 cup Applesauce, unsweetened
    0.5 cup Egg White (Naturegg Simply Egg Whites) Per 1/4 cup (about 2 whites)
    1.5 cup Buttermilk, lowfat
    2 serving Apple Cortland 1 Serv of Med Apple (154g)
    .165 cup Oats, Quaker
    1 tbsp Cinnamon, ground

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°. Combine the first brown sugar, apple, oats and cinnamon in a medium bowl, and stir well. Coat a 12-cup Bundt pan with cooking spray; sprinkle 1/3 cup of the apple mixture into pan. Set remaining mixture aside. Combine granulated sugar and applesauce in a large bowl and beat at medium speed of a mixer until well-blended. Add egg whites, beating well. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; stir well. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture; mix after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Measure 2 cups of batter; set aside. Pour remaining batter into prepared pan; sprinkle remaining apple mixture over batter. Pour reserved 2 cups batter over walnut mixture. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool in pan 10 minutes on a wire rack; remove from pan. Let cool completely on wire rack. Cut into 20 slices and serve. Serving Size: makes 20 slices
