    2 T. vegetable oil
    1 medium onion, chopped
    4 cloves garlic, chopped
    -1 lb turkey smoked sausage, cut lengthwise & sliced crosswise
    1- pounds cabbage (about head) shredded
    2-3 potatoes, peeled & cut into inch cubes
    4 cups of water
    2 cans chicken broth
    1 bay leaf
    1- t. dried thyme
    1 t. cumin
    1- t. salt


In the Instant Pot, heat the oil on Saute setting. Add the onions, garlic, and smoked sausage. Cook until sausage is browned, about 5 minutes.

Add potatoes, water, broth, bay leaf, thyme, and spices to the pot. Close the lid and select the Soup setting.

Remove the bay leaf from the soup before serving.

Makes 6 servings.
