Ingredients

    2 cup, diced Ham, regular (11% fat)
    1 cup Canola Oil
    4 medium Carrots, raw
    1 cup, chopped Onions, raw
    8 stalk, medium (7-1/2" - 8" long) Celery, raw
    88 fl oz Water, tap
    450 grams Split Peas

Tips

***Recipe lists oil to account for natural fat boiled off from ham hock. Do not add canola oil to your soup.***


Directions

Boil ham hock for several hours until meat falls off the bone. Remove the hock. Add split peas and simmer. Meanwhile chop carrots, onion and celery. Add to soup. Deboneham and chop. Add to soup and simmer until peas and vegetables are tender.
