Introduction
Delicious Korean dish, adapted a little to reduce fat and cholesterol. The sodium is a bit high, but you can adjust by using less gochujang. Gochujang is a spicy pepper paste that you can find in Korean markets. Delicious Korean dish, adapted a little to reduce fat and cholesterol. Ingredients
-
Brown rice (2 cups, cooked)
2 Tbs Gochujang paste
1/2 Tbs honey
1/2 Tbs roasted sesame seeds
1 Tbs sesame oil
Protein of your choice, but I suggest:
3 egg whites
1/2 block extra firm tofu
Veggies of your choice, steamed lightly.
Here, I suggest:
carrots
spinach
cucumber
onion
green onion
bell pepper
Directions
Steam rice.
Cut veggies into julienne strips or chop and steam (yes, even the cucumber). Don't overcook the veggies; some crunch makes this more delicious!
Cook tofu your favorite way (stir-fry, grill?)
Make a plain egg-white omelet, then cut into julienne strips.
Gochujang condiment: Stir together gochujang, honey, sesame oil, and sesame seeds.
Serve everyone rice and let folks add veggies and protein of their choice, and each can add as much or as little gochujang as desired. Careful, it's pretty spicy!
