Introduction

Trade shortening for oil and reduce the amount to cut the fat by half!! Very light and flavorful. Great for strawberry shortcake. You can also substitute the sugar with Splenda. Ingredients

    4 cups flour
    .25 cup sugar
    2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 tbs yeast
    .5 cup canola oil
    .5 cup milk
    1 tsp white vinegar
    .25 cup water

Directions

Pre-heat oven to 415 degrees. In small bowl dissolve yeast in warm water. In another bowl mix millk and vinegar and set aside. Sift dry ingredients into a large bowl. Add oil, mix until crumbly with pastry cutter. Add yeast/water mixture and milk/vinegar mixture. Mix but do not over mix! Press out on floured surface and cut into 2 inch buscuits. Place in lightly sprayed baking dish and bake 20 to 25 minutes, until lightly browned.
