Introduction

The soup my mum makes, just without the meat. Traditionally eaten with a slice of rhye bread. The soup my mum makes, just without the meat. Traditionally eaten with a slice of rhye bread.

Ingredients

    2L water
    400g split peas
    2 bay leaves
    1 stick cinnamon
    1tbsp salt
    1/4 raw celeriac
    1 big carrot, chopped
    1 leek, in rings
    1 medium onion, chopped

Directions

Put the water, bay leaves, cinnamon, salt and the split peas in a big pot and boil for 45 minutes, make sure to get the foam out every now and then. In the mean while, chop up the vegetables.
When the 45 minutes have passed, add the vegetables and let it boil for another 30 minutes.
Now it's ready to eat. Don't worry if you have leftovers, it usually tastes even better the next day.
