Number of Servings: 2

Ingredients

    1 large sweet onion
    7 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
    1 tbsp unsalted butter
    1 tsp ground thyme
    1 tsp black pepper
    2 cloves garlic, minced

Directions

1.) Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Cut the onion in half along its equator, removing the papery skin and any tough layers but NOT the root and stem, this will help the onion stay together as it bakes.

2.) In a small saucepan, saute the butter and garlic for about a minute, then add the balsamic vinegar and spices. Stir until combined.

3.) Place the onions cut side down in a small, foil-lined baking dish. Pour the sauce over them and bake for 20 minutes, then turn over and bake for another 20 minutes, until easily pierced with a knife.

Makes 2 half-onion servings.
