Introduction

I had some sausage balls at a recent girls' wine night, and decided to go home and make my own leaner version with the scant number of ingredients I had on hand. The texture is perfect and the balls a delicious appetizer or even main dish meat item. Would also be delicious with an extra spicy sausage or some garlic seasoning. Ingredients

12 oz. Jimmy Dean Reduced Fat Premium Original Pork Sausage
    1 cup all purpose flour
    2 Tbps. nonfat milk
5 1/2 oz. shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite blend)

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix all ingredients by hand or in sturdy stand mixer (I use my KitchenAide). Spray baking sheet with nonstick spray. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on cookie sheet. Bake for 14 minutes at 375 degrees. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Will also freeze well - thaw and reheat in oven until warm all the way through.

Makes approximately 27 one inch sausage balls.
