Introduction

My Aunt gave this recipe to my Mom who in turn passed it on to me. Very easy to make and my kids love it. This recipe yeilds 3 X 2lb loafs and freezes very well. Ingredients

    11/4 lbs Coarse Wholemeal Flour
    1lb White Flour
    2 tsps Bread (Baking) Soda
    Pinch Salt
    1 tsp Brown Sugar
    4 Tbsp Sunflower Oil
    1 litre Buttermilk/Sour Milk

Directions

1. Mix all dry ingredients together
2. Add Oil and add Buttermilk bit by bit until a wet but not runny consistancy is achieved, you may not need it all.
3.Divide betweeen 3 x 2lb loaf tins
4. Bake at 170C for 40 -60 mins (it takes 40 in my aunts oven but 55 in mime)
5. Leave cool in tin for 10 mins then turn out.
