Ingredients
-
5 C flour (I do 3 C whole wheat, 2 C white)
2 C warm water
2 Tbs. yeast
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. garlic powder (opt.)
1 1/3 C shredded cheese (I used Cheddar/Jack)
tomato sauce (I used 26 oz. can Del Monte Garlic & Herb Chunky spaghetti sauce)
Toppings! This can vary, but I used:
1 large green bell pepper
1 large yellow onion
5 roma tomatoes
4 C raw spinach, torn to small chunks
1 C sliced mushrooms
Directions
This makes two huge pizzas (I use a large cookie sheet to make each rectangle pizza, each pizza = 15 large square slices).
Mix 2 C warm water with yeast and sugar. Mix and let sit 5 minutes.
Stir in flour, oil, salt, and garlic powder. Let rest 10 minutes.
Divide dough into two pieces. Roll out flat (pretty thin, it rises as it cooks) and place each piece on a cookie sheet (if you do round pizzas, this may make 3, I'm not sure) (spray sheet with nonstick cooking spray and sprinkle with corn meal (opt.)).
Spread half of tomato sauce on each pizza. Then add toppings (I always wait to add the tomatoes right after I pull the pizza out of the oven).
Cook at 400 for 15 minutes.
