Introduction

This has been my favorite since I was a little girl. It's not Low-anything, but it IS the only apple pie I will eat. This has been my favorite since I was a little girl. It's not Low-anything, but it IS the only apple pie I will eat.

Ingredients

6 cups Apples, pared, thinly sliced (about 2 #)
    1 cup Sugar
    2 Tablespoons Flour
    1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
    1/8 teaspoon Salt
    2 Tablespoons Oil
    Double-Crust Pastry
Cinnamon Red Hots (candy) usually found during Valentine's.

Directions

Preheat oven to 425 ' F. Prepare apples, Combine dry ingredients; mix with apples to coat. Put into pastry lined 9-in pie pan. Sprinkle with oil. Add a few cinnamon red hot candies (optional). Cover with op crust; cut slits for steam to escape. Make a high fluted rim to contain juices (and keep your oven clean). Bake 35 to 45 min. until nicely browned and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust. I love it hot with vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt. Cut into 8 equal slices.
