Introduction

Easy to make delicious bread. Use to make open-faced sandwiches or toast for breakfast. Easy to make delicious bread. Use to make open-faced sandwiches or toast for breakfast.

Ingredients

    3 C Whole Wheat Flour
    1/2 C Wheat Bran
    1 tsp Baking Soda
    1/2 tsp Baking Powder
    1/2 tsp Salt
    1 1/2 C Buttermilk
    1 Large Egg

Directions

Preheat oven to 425F
In large bowl, stir together dry ingredients
In medium bowl, whisk together buttermilk and egg. Add to flour mixture, stirring gently until mixture forms a soft, sticky dough.
Turn onto lightly floured surface. Knead dough gently into ball. Place on floured baking sheet. With sharp knife, cut large X in top of loaf.
Bake for 40 minutes or until golden and tester comes out clean.

Makes 1 loaf (12 slices)

Variation: Mix in 1/3 C currents along with flour.
