Ingredients

    1 lb. stir-fry beef
    2 Tbsp. low sodium soy salt
    1/4 tsp. 5 spice powder(ingredients to follow)
    1/2 c. water
    3 stp. corn starch
    1 Tbsp. Canola oil
    1 tsp. fresh gingerroot
    1 10 oz. bag fresh spinach
    1 can sliced water chestnuts

    ***5 spice powder
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. crushed anise seed
    1/4 tsp. fennel seed
    1/4 tsp. black pepper
    1/4 tsp. Szechwan pepper

Directions

Combine soy sauce and 5 spice powder and pour over the meat. Allow to set at least 15 minutes. In small bowl combine the water and corn starch.
Preheat wok or large electric skillet and add the oil and gingerroot. Add half the meat and stir fry about 3 minutes. Remove meat and repeat with other half.
Combine remaining marinade and the cornstarch mixture and pour into wok. Stir until thick. Return all meat to wok and add the water chestnuts and the spinach. Stir until spinach starts wilting and cover for 2 minutes. Serves 6.
