Ingredients

    2 c. whole wheat flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tbsp. butter
    1 egg
    1 1/4 c. milk
    1 1/2 c. strong Cheddar cheese, grated

Directions

Mix dry ingredients. Rub in butter. Beat egg and milk together and mix with dry ingredients, using a metal knife (stainless steel). Add the cheese and mix. Fill greased muffin pan compartments 3/4 full and bake at 400 degrees until brown (about 10 minutes). Serve with jam, honey, cheese, or cream cheese.
