Ingredients
-
1 small onion, diced
1 lb extra lean turkey, ground
2 egg whites, or egg substitute
1/2 cup applesauce, natural
1/4 cup breadcrumbs, seasoned
1/4 cup quick oatmeal
2 Tbsp parmesan cheese, grated
1 tsp of italian seasoning, or poultry seasoning
1 tsp red pepper flakes, optional
1 cup of tomato sauce, optional
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a baking dish with cooking spray
Dice the onion in a bowl. Add turkey, egg whites, applesauce, breadcrumbs, oatmeal, parmesan, and seasoning. Mix with a spoon, or your clean hands.
Form 4 individual loaves (about the size of your fist) & place in preparred pan. If desired, brush the top with tomato sauce. Cook for 60 minutes, or until meat is completely cooked.
Serve with steamed veggies or a salad for a complete meal. I like to double the recipe and make extras to freeze for another day. The little loaves will keep moist and leftovers reheat well. Enjoy!
