Introduction

Ingredients
-
1 large head of cabbage
5 slices of reduced fat center cut bacon
2 teaspoons of granulated sugar
.25 teaspoon black pepper
.5 cup of water
salt to taste
Directions
-chop and rinse the head of cabbage.
-in a large pot, cook the bacon until it is nice and crisp and remove from the pot. keep the bacon drippings in the pot.
-put the chopped cabbage in the pot with bacon drippings and pour in the water.
-chop bacon into bite sized pieces and put to the side.
-cover the pot, reduce the heat to medium, and simmer for 10 minutes.
-uncover the pot occasionally to turn and stir the cabbage making sure that all cabbage gets to the water in the bottom of the pot.
-add in sugar, black pepper, and as much salt as you desire to suit your taste.
-recover the pot and simmer for another 5 minutes
-add bacon pieces back into the cabbage just before serving.
