Ingredients
-
2 pounds round steak cut 1 in cubes (or the size you like)
1 package (8oz.) sliced fresh mushrooms
1 T. beef bouillon (or 3 beef bouillon cubes)
1/2 t. black pepper
1 bag (16 oz.) whole wheat , wide, egg noodles
1 container (8oz.) light sour cream (I prefer Daisy brand)
1 tsp thyme leaves
1 T. all-purpose flour
Directions
1. In 4 quart or so slow cooker, place beef cubes, mushrooms, onion, beef bouillion, and black pepper.
2. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 8 hours. (Know your crock pot. Some heat at higher temps than others. Older pots have lower temps. If it is a new pot with high temps, cook on high for one hour then switch to the keep warm setting for the rest of the time. The keep warm setting is comparable to the low setting on older pots)
3. About 20 minutes before serving Make a slurry of the flour and some of the liquid in the pot. Stir Slurry back into meat mixture in pot. Turn to high for about 15 minutes. Turn pot off and stir in sour cream and thyme.
4. Serve over hot cooked noodles. (Cook and drain noodles as directed on package. Time to be done when stroganoff meat mixture is done.
Makes 8 servings about 3/4 cup noodles and 1 cup meat mixture.
