Rice Krispy Recipes

This recipe is for anyone who likes a variety of rice krispy treats, with a twist. This works by taking one portion of each of the three treats made.

Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

Add Rice Krispies cereal and stir until well coated.

Same classic recipe, one slight difference - light butter.

Adapted from a recipe in Eating Well magazine-- I reduced sugar, added some nuts, and simplified the process by making squares.

The next time I test this out I will likely further reduce the sugar b/c even these were too sweet.

115 calories / square is about as low as I think possible for these treats. After seeing another spark members recipe that claimed each square was only 57 calories I decided to double check it using the specific brands I usually buy.

Add a hint of real vanilla extract to the melted butter and mashmallows for an extra bit of flavor.

Also have added food coloring to the melted butter and marshmallows for my nieces at different holidays.

I like mine slightly burnt/caramelized. These are crunchier than usual, and not nearly as sticky.

For all you scale users: 2x2 squares in my pan are about 3/4 in thick and weigh 1/2 ounce each. If your pan is different, at least you can weigh whatever size you make: 1/2 ounce is 65.6 calories
