Introduction

My husband (who's not dieting and loves everything bad for you) goes crazy every time I make this. It's very tasty - and the spinach is pretty subtle! Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1 pound ground beef
    2 tablespoons onion, chopped
    1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/2 cup spaghetti sauce
    8 ounces cream cheese
    1 egg
    1/8 teaspoon pepper
10 ounces frozen chopped spinach, thawed & drained
    4 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
    2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese

Directions

Brown the hamburger with the onion; drain off the fat. Mix in the garlic powder and spaghetti sauce; season to taste and heat until bubbly. Meanwhile, soften the cream cheese in a medium-size microwaveable bowl for about 40-60 seconds. Stir until creamy; beat in the egg and pepper with a spoon until well mixed. Blend in the spinach. Spread half of the meat mixture evenly in the bottom of a greased, 8 x 8" glass baking pan. Spread the spinach mixture over the meat; top with the mozzarella, then the rest of the meat. It may not completely cover the top, but that's OK. Sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese. Bake at 350º about 30 minutes until hot and bubbly.

I believe this recipe originally came from genaw.com. My suggestion is to put all the meat mixture at the bottom then the spinach/cream cheese mixture on top. Then add the mozzarella and then parmesan. I put in a lot of extra seasonings and used 5Italian cheese mixture. - 11/9/13

Delicious!!! I made it with hot Italian sausage instead of ground beef because I didn't have any and it is amazing. Can't wait to have leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Thanks!! - 7/25/13

Loved it! I tweaked it just a little by using ground turkey instead of ground beef. I also added a bag of cauliflower mixed in with the spinach. I think that gave if more texture, maybe a bit more like a pasta. It was super easy and will definitely make again! Thanks! - 3/19/13

Thanks for a great recipe. The only change I made was to put the mozza an top and then the parm. It made for a nice brown top which I love. - 12/18/20

I called this lasagna to some of my Italian friends. Had to swear it wasn't my name, because lasagna needs noodles, pasta or zucchini or whatever. It was good, but it isn't lasagna. - 7/26/19

Many ways to make this my own! Used ricotta vs. cream cheese. Used turkey sausage vs. ground meat. Added italian seasonings. Added asiago cheese. Really good. - 1/2/19

This was delicious as written!!! In future I'll add thinly sliced zucchini or eggplant so that I get more veggies in. I had to restrain my impulse to add twice the cheese :) - 9/3/18

Very tasty! Spinach flavor was mild. Serving size seemed a bit small, but I used FF cream cheese and 90/10 beef, so I had a little bigger piece. - 4/10/16

Made something similar to this. Just swapped out the spaghetti sauce for tomato paste, left out the egg since I'm allergic, and was very pleased with the results. Even the family loved it! - 4/10/12
