This is the exact recipe I have been making for over 30 years and the one that my mother and grandmother made. Everyone always loves it,I now make it with skim milk because that's what I have on hand.I use canola oil instead of butter.Even those who say they don't like sweet cornbread like this. - 3/16/09

I used whole wheat flour, 1 tbs of lemon juice to the 1% milk and Becel light margarine. I baked in a square cake pan. Sometimes whole wheat flour changes a recipe but in this one it worked great. - 1/10/10

I thought this corn bread was pretty good, but not sweet enough for my family, but they like their cornbread made with yellow cake mix. I did notice however it was gone the next day. - 4/22/18

Why not cut some fresh corn into it? Other variations I've tried: adding crumbled bacon, or shredded cheese, sweetening with sorghum or maple syrup, add minced onion & green peppers. In summer I make griddle cakes on the grill-oil free. - 9/4/13

It was ok --added corn to it (had it on hand). I made it in my muffin pan to ensure I made 12 servings. Its a little dry and not as sweet as I like. If I make it again, I'll tweek the receipe to add more honey. - 8/20/12

This recipe was perfect the way it was. I made this corn bread & another which I will also comment on and took to a low country boil party. Both were a huge hit! Love how moist it was & a great flavor! - 5/21/12

I ended up making the cornbread with splenda and egg beaters, and the batter was looking a little dry , so I also added about 1/4 cup of applesauce to cut down on the fat. It was delicious! - 3/14/12

This was so great! I subbed plain nonfat yogurt for the buttermilk and added a little skim milk to thin the batter. It was so moist and delish! I paired it with the turkey/black bean/corn chili from this site and it was an awesome dinner with great leftovers! - 8/3/10

i made the bread in muffin forms today. i wasnt a big fan at all. cant say i've ever tried corn bread before.
i made the recipe to a T and think the muffins are not moist at all. perhaps i over baked them, but i was sure to keep an eye and turn off the oven as soon as tooth pick came out clean.
