You'll forget all about beef burgers once you try these. Salty and rich feta is mixed with lean ground turkey and Greek herbs for juicy and delicious burgers.
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

16 ounces 93% lean ground turkey
    1/4 cup whole-wheat breadcrumbs
    1/4 cup feta cheese, crumbled
    1 egg white
    1 tablespoon chopped mint
    1 teaspoon dried oregano
    1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    Cooking spray

Tips

Overworking the mixture can result in tough burgers.

Directions

Mix all ingredients until just combined.

Coat a nonstick skillet with cooking spray and place over medium heat. Divide the meat mixture into 4 round balls. Flatten the burgers with your hand and press your thumb in the center of each burger (this keeps the meat from rising too high as it cooks).
Cook the burgers 5-6 minutes per side, flipping once, until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.

My family loved this recipe. I thought it was a little dry so the last time I made it I put about a half cup of fat free sour cream and 6 peeled slices of cucumber in a food processor. I added about two tablespoons to the mixture and then used some on the finished burger. I added red pepper flake - 1/9/10

Very yummy! My kids and husband loved it. Instead of the pita I used the new 100 cal Orowheat sandwich thins. I also used an avocado and spread it instead of mayo and added some tomato and lettuce. These will be on our menu again! - 4/20/10

This was delicious! I made it with raw baby spinach instead of mixed greens, and spread a mix of low-fat mayo and stone ground mustard on the inside of the pita before I put everything in. It was so juicy and messy, it felt like I was eating a sloppy gourmet burger, without the fat and calories! - 3/31/10

Added a finely chopped jalapeno to the mix and threw them on the grill. A small amount of a simple tzatziki sauce on top and it was the best turkey burger I've ever had. Moist and full of flavor. - 6/18/12

Great! I added a sprinkle of nutmeg (goes so well with feta), non-fat feta and garlic and used tzatziki sauce (made with non-fat Greek yogurt, cucumber and lemon juice) as the dressing with spinach leaves, tomato and red onion! Um, um, GOOD! Tasted somewhat like a gyro! - 1/15/11

I made something similar a week ago, but I used a whole wheat bun rather than a pita, no bread crumbs or any spices actually, and topped with spinach, tomato, and cucumber. Was really good. Could probably add some olive to make it more Greek, but I don't really like olives. - 1/19/10

Family loved it! Thought hubby would drown it with ketchup, but he ate without and really liked it. They smell so good when you cook too!! Used cherub tomatoes and just complemented the burger(regular tomatoes not in season, they are tiny but I cut them up) It was just delicious! Will make again! - 1/9/10

Not bad, just a little plain. I would most likley make again but add tzatziki or other condiment sauce topping. Great in a pita with veggies (lettuce, tomato, etc) - 10/25/09

My wife doesn't like ground turkey so I used ground chicken and this was delicious. I added some nutmeg and dried onion. Pan fried them for 4 mins on each side then put them in the oven (on 350) for another 4 mins to finish cooking on the inside. They turned out juicy and OMG good. - 9/10/13

I had it in whole wheat burger buns, with a side salad of iceberg lettuce, black olives, onions and balsamic dressing. The turkey burgers kept moist and the feta melted inside which helped. The only thing I will do different next time is add less mint, since I don't enjoy it that much. Very tasty. - 9/4/15
