Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

1 pounds extra lean ground turkey
1 envelope reduced-sodium taco seasoning mix
2 (8 oz.) cans reduced fat crescent rolls
    1 (14.5 oz) can fat-free refried beans
2 cups low fat shredded cheddar cheese or Mexican blend
1 (14.5 oz) can diced no salt added tomatoes
1 small jalapeno, deseeded and chopped
1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
    1/2 cup green onions, chopped

Tips

This is wonderful for a main dish, served with a salad and some whole grain Spanish rice.

Cut them smaller for a great little appetizer too.

It's almost like that yummy Mexican layered dip...but you don't need the chips.

Directions

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Brown ground turkey and drain.

Add taco seasoning to the ground turkey according to the package directions.

Unroll crescent rolls into rectangles. Place in ungreased 11 1/2 inch x 16 1/2 inch jelly roll pan or cookie sheet.

Press dough over the bottom and 1/2 inch up sides to form crust. Bake at 375 oven for 11 to 13 minutes or just until golden brown.

Microwave beans in a microwave safe bowl for 1 minute (or until warmed through).

Carefully spread beans over warm crust creating a thin layer.

Top with cooked turkey mixture, sprinkle with cheese followed by tomatoes, black olives and green onion.

Return to oven for 3-6 more minutes until cheese is melted. Serve immediately.

Makes 12 main dish servings or 48 appetizers.

So easy to make and yummy too! I found I did not need more than 1 cup of cheese, but I used finely shreded. I also used fresh tomatoes from our garden - 9/4/13

I used hamburger. This was a perfect meal to serve to my son's family for dinner. I was able to cut small pieces for the toddlers. They loved the cheese and black olives. The adults added light sour cream and jalapenos. - 10/29/13

Awesome easy recipe that I'll be making again. I used Mrs Dash Fiesta-lime, instead of taco seasoning. I did not add water to the meat but, I might try a little next time when I mix in the seasoning. I also did not use olives on top and I used a fresh tomato instead of diced. - 5/4/13

This was good but not with the refined beans too mushy, black beans would have been better. - 4/9/20

I love this and have made it several times. I always add a diced jalepeno to the toppings and sub a bag of morning star meatless crumbles for the turkey. I also use just the regular crescent rolls, fresh tomatoes and red onions. Calories are about the same. - 1/21/15

you cant half bake or bake crossiant to what you said. I tried it. I did all this. my dough was still doughey. becareful of using 2/3 water from the taco seasoning package, its to much water too.if you want slicked diced tomatoes from a can like i used. drain it really good. I used mexican corn too - 1/19/21

Can I tell a tiny secret? If you buy vegetarian refried beans instead of fat-free, there is no animal fat at all in the entire can, instead of simply no fat per serving. They are just as tasty, especially in a recipe like this. :-) - 4/8/19

Wonderful idea. I've veganized it by replacing the turkey with tofu & used vegan cheese. When I took it out of the oven I topped it with salsa & shredded lettuce. Very good, thanks for sharing - 10/5/18
