I tried this, kind of, today it was really good, but instead of ground beef I used ground turkey, brown rice instead of white and cream of mushroom instead of cream of chicken, it was really good that way. never thought about doing it in the crockpot though, will try that next time - 8/7/08

I have made this dish many times. I use ground turkey and whole grain rice. Also you can get fat free cream of chicken soup at Trader Joe's to cut some more calories out of this disk. - 4/23/08

If you make this in the crock pot, I suggest you wait to add the broccolli till the last hour or so of cooking. Overcooked broccolli from the crockpot tastes awful!

    This recipe sounds yummy!

I make something almost identical only using GimmeLean soy ground beef, and Imagine No Chicken Broth, and brown rice (lower glycemic index than white). I also add a little more spice, although if you try it with the Gimme Lean sausage flavor instead of ground beef flavor you don't need extra spice. - 8/6/08

I have made something similar to this for years, only with 1/4 cup grated parmesan instead of the soup. Delicious either way! - 8/6/08

We have made this type of recipe for many years and it is the type of recipe that is easy to add what your family likes. We often do much of it in the microwave, so there few dishes to cleanup...it is very good and easy. - 8/6/08

I would add onions next time. It needed seasoning. I added sea salt with garlic grinder to this one. It was easy to make and very good once I doctored it. I froze the rest of it for later in small portions. - 6/3/08

I made this recipe, using ground turkey instead of hamburger and added 1 can of chicken broth, dash of seasoning salt, and a package of Lipton Onion Soup. I didn't have cauliflower, but will add this next time. My teenage sons loved it. No leftovers. - 4/28/08

I love this easy recipe! I made this last night using chicken broth instead of water, brown rice instead of white and ground turkey instead of hamburger. I also added some onions, garlic and thyme for additional flavor (and then I forgot the cream soup!). But it was very tasty, easy and filling! - 3/25/08

Hmmm, I sub. lean ground turkey, added mushrooms, red peppers and green onions, brown rice instead of white and low sodium soup, added sage and rosemary and fresh ground pepper. It was good but I think the serving size is off. - 3/24/08

I have made something similar, but this recipe needs tweaking. I seasoned the beef with onions and seasoning salt. Also, used Brown rice. May need two cans of cream of chicken soup (fat free) You can change your vegetables. I baked it for 20 minutes or so. - 3/24/08

As written this recipe really wasn't tasty. I did add seasonings such as black pepper, garlic and herb seasoning and it didn't help much. I won't be trying this one again. Filling yes, easy yes, tasty no. - 9/16/10

I can't digest red meat easily, so my husband and I always sub ground turkey for ground beef. We also use jalepenos and red peppers when preparing this dish. Add a dash of Zataran's and this dish is awesome! - 4/18/10

I would substitute meatless ground "beef" to real ground beef - that would considerably lower the Cholesterol containt - no canned soup either but maybe vegetable broth to lower the Sodium, and I would use Brown or Wild rice to add Fiber + spices to taste up. - 4/23/08

I think this is a good basic "starter recipe", but agree that I'd likely use brown rice, even if instant, as well as adding some seasonings. But that can be said for nearly any recipe I try. - 4/23/08

I might try this with the veggie burger crumbles, brown rice, and cream of mushroom or celery soup. This recipe needs tweaking for more fiber and flavor kick but we all need some quick recipes in our arsenals. Thanks for sharing. - 4/23/08

This sounds okay. I would definitely want to add some seasonings to it. As for people's complaints about the portion size. Even if you served a double portion, it would still be under 400 calories for the meal, which is not bad at all. - 4/23/08

Quesrtioning serving sizes. This is a frequent frustration of mine with these recipes. Since SOME of us (me) have issues with portion control, I wish there were a place the author could specify what the actual portion size is. SOME (me) of us tend to exaggerate the size if we like the dish!!!!! - 3/24/08
