Substitued ground turkey for the ground beef. Noticed after the flour and milk (used rice milk) it had a pot pie consistency. Added a can of sliced potatoes and chopped them in. Thawing out the veggies first is easier. The longer you let it simmer, the better it seems. A new favorite, thanks! - 7/6/09

It was pretty easy & I liked it very much. My boyfriend wasn't a fan of the spices (the Cumin I think..) but other than that it was very good. I served over wheat rice that I boiled in 3/4 beef broth and 1/4 water. Also substituted the milk for beef broth as well. I'll cook again & change spices! - 12/24/09

I used this recipe as a starting point. I used a pound of ground beef, and 1/2 pound of chorizo. I used beef broth, instead of milk. I also added a can of 'cream of mushroom soup with roasted garlic'. Then, I swapped out the sage for cayenne chili powder. I used frozen veggies & fresh mushrooms.Yum - 8/9/14

Made a few mods and it turned out pretty good. I subbed in the following: avocado oil, almond milk, whole wheat flour, and since I didn't have sage I used basil. Doubled spices and reduced salt, and yet sadly I found it to be a bit on the bland side. I will try subbing in red wine next time. Thanks! - 1/11/14

I used ground turkey and half the milk mixture and a cup of chicken broth. I didn't have any cumin, so I added half a tsp of garlic powder and a tsp of onion powder. I took the advice of someone below and steam my veggies (california blend) before adding it to the milk mixture. I would make it again - 2/22/13
