Tasted good.. my picky eater ate three helpings. Used a beef boullion cube dissolved in water in place of the milk and added black pepper, seasoning salt, and garlic powder. - 4/21/09

This has become a family favorite. It freezes beautifully, which is great, because we are once a month cooks. When we reheat and eat during the month, we mix it with pasta - voila! healthy hamburger helper in less than 10m. - 6/17/09

Substitued ground turkey for the ground beef. Noticed after the flour and milk (used rice milk) it had a pot pie consistency. Added a can of sliced potatoes and chopped them in. Thawing out the veggies first is easier. The longer you let it simmer, the better it seems. A new favorite, thanks! - 7/6/09

I too used beef broth instead of milk and added garlic salt. I prepared it as directed and then used it to make lettuce wraps. It was very tasty and my 4 year old who doesn't like new things had 2 servings! - 6/8/10

A variation on a recipe we make. This adds more veggies, but we add pan seared brown rice cooked in half a TBL of Extra Virgin Olive oil. - 3/4/10

It was pretty easy & I liked it very much. My boyfriend wasn't a fan of the spices (the Cumin I think..) but other than that it was very good. I served over wheat rice that I boiled in 3/4 beef broth and 1/4 water. Also substituted the milk for beef broth as well. I'll cook again & change spices! - 12/24/09

Very bland. I even added chili powder and cheese and it was bland. The only thing that saved it was I put it over a baked potato. Would not have been good at all without the potato. I might try to make it again and add more spices...might. - 3/3/17

I used this recipe as a starting point. I used a pound of ground beef, and 1/2 pound of chorizo. I used beef broth, instead of milk. I also added a can of 'cream of mushroom soup with roasted garlic'. Then, I swapped out the sage for cayenne chili powder. I used frozen veggies & fresh mushrooms.Yum - 8/9/14

I loved this recipe as it was easy and quick to prepare. I used green beans and corn in mine and the spices match perfectly with the veggies I chose. I would say it probably needed a bit more spice for my family, but was completely enough for me. Great comfort food minus calories. - 2/5/14

Made a few mods and it turned out pretty good. I subbed in the following: avocado oil, almond milk, whole wheat flour, and since I didn't have sage I used basil. Doubled spices and reduced salt, and yet sadly I found it to be a bit on the bland side. I will try subbing in red wine next time. Thanks! - 1/11/14

I used ground turkey and half the milk mixture and a cup of chicken broth. I didn't have any cumin, so I added half a tsp of garlic powder and a tsp of onion powder. I took the advice of someone below and steam my veggies (california blend) before adding it to the milk mixture. I would make it again - 2/22/13
